This is a project I worked on at Infinity Labs (later Infinity Interactive) in 2022. It is a training application for employees of Zijerveld, a cheese distribution centre. It uses a clever detective game design that creates an immersive and fun experience that effectively teaches (new) employees the importance of safety measures in the workplace.
Look at the trailer below:
My roles on this project were MoCap Tech, 3D Animator and Cinematics Animator. Alongside the trailer above, I have created 3 in-game cinematic 'scenarios' and created the motion capture data for them. We used the in-house MoCap studio I set up with the Rokoko Smartsuit Pro and Rokoko Studio to create the raw data.
Below you can find a part of the shotlist I created for this project as well as some fun action-stills from the reference footage (no colleagues were hurt in the process of the shoot ;p). This footage is later also used to clean up the hiccups in the data.
After our shootday, I processed the data in Rokoko Studio and did a first clean-up pass using the built-in filters to correct misplacement of the feet and knee-popping (which are almost inevitable in inertial motion capture). After that, due to limited time budget for this project; 2 more passes of clean-up were done in Motion Builder. The cinematics themselves were then built in UE4 sequencers.
Process Specifics
Rokoko suits (inertia based) with Rokoko Studio software for recording and processing.
Blendshapes for in-engine facial expressions.
In-engine (UE4) sequencer implementation for cinematic scenarios.
Autodesk MotionBuilder for characterizing, retargeting and cleaning up the processed data.
